Friend,
This is an urgent follow-up to the email I sent on Monday regarding Senate Bill 30 (SB 30).
Late last night, New Mexico House Democrats quietly added SB 30 to the House Judiciary Committee schedule for a hearing TODAY. As of yesterday evening, it was not listed. This late addition is a clear attempt to limit public awareness and public participation.
SB 30 would eliminate New Mexico’s only mandatory abortion reporting requirement. If passed, key public data about abortions in New Mexico could disappear entirely.
Without reporting and accountability, there is no clear public record of complications, malpractice, abuse, late-term abortions, or harm to women, the type of information that is routinely tracked in every other area of healthcare. When oversight disappears, so does responsibility.
This affects:
Transparency — Families and communities lose visibility into what is happening in our state.
Accountability — Harm, complications, and malpractice can remain hidden without public reporting.
Culture — Truth becomes harder to defend when facts are concealed.
Our Work — The real needs of women and families in Southern New Mexico become harder to document, address, and respond to.
This moment matters, and the timeline has accelerated.
TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY
SB 30 is being heard TODAY in House Judiciary.
