I have difficult news, important new findings, and a very hopeful Church update to share.
After returning Thursday evening from a meeting with Archbishop Wester in Albuquerque, Blanca and I stopped by the construction site and discovered that the foundation had been laid.

Attached below are a picture from the site taken on Thursday evening and a short video update, so you can see firsthand the progress they are making and why we must pray and CALL the companies that are involved. Watch Here

I will be honest. Seeing that was heartbreaking. Then I felt the Lord give me a wave of peace.
As I stood there looking at the foundation, I thought of Peter walking on the water toward Jesus. As long as Peter kept his eyes fixed on Christ, he did the impossible. It was only when he focused on the wind and waves around him that fear took hold and he began to sink.
How often do we do the same?
When we focus only on what we can see, the concrete, the construction, the headlines, the obstacles, it is easy to become discouraged. But Jesus calls us to keep our eyes on Him, not on the storm.
Today, we choose to keep our eyes on Jesus.
The foundation may have been poured, but our hope is not built on what is happening at that construction site. Our hope is built on Christ.
"Immediately, Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. 'You of little faith,' He said, 'why did you doubt?'" Matthew 14:31
We do not want to be people of little faith. We want to be people who trust that God is still at work, even when we cannot yet see the outcome. So let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, remain faithful to prayer, and continue moving forward with courage and hope.
With that in mind, here are the latest developments from the site....
We identified a new porta-potty company connected to the project:
Sarabia’s Portable Jons & Blue Sanitation
Owner: Monica Brown
Email: [email protected]
Number listed on the unit: (915) 544-9022
Website number: (915) 221-8949
The links and outreach documents have been updated to include the owners' names. (Thank you, Merlinda)
If you have been in contact with any contractor, supplier, worker, or company connected to this project, please call or text me directly at (915) 455-1344 so we can keep supporters updated. We are doing this together.
And while the foundation being laid is difficult news, the Church's momentum is incredibly encouraging.
Here is a picture that Bennie, from the Spiritual Defense Coalition, shared showing that nearly 1,000 letters were signed at St. Anne’s pilot letter-writing project, with many more taken home to be completed and mailed. Father Brito spoke from the pulpit after each Mass, warned parishioners about the Las Cruces facility and the possibility of another facility coming to Northern New Mexico, and urged the faithful to take action.

More parishes are now preparing letter-signing efforts, including Santa Maria, Pojoaque, San Ysidro, and others. This is exactly the kind of united, prayerful response we need right now. If you would like to do this at your Church or Parish, please reach out to Bennie Gonzalez at [email protected] with any questions or for instructions.
We also have Juan, a Spiritual Defense Coalition member, who has offered to personally hand-deliver the signed letters to the contractor. What an incredible witness of faith in action. Please keep Juan in your prayers as he continues this important work.
And while we pray for the conversion of hearts, let us also remember Patrick Aragon and his family in our prayers. Behind every decision, every contract, and every project are people who need God's grace, mercy, and truth. We are called not only to oppose evil, but to pray for those involved and ask God to transform hearts.
We cannot lose this momentum.
📬 Here are the Updated Letter Packs
Please download the new packet (Google Doc | Word | PDF) and mail what you can this week. It now includes:
1. Petition letters to every remaining confirmed company still actively engaged in the project — including Del Norte Construction LLC of Albuquerque.
2. Thank-you letters to the three companies that have already walked away after learning what they were really helping to build, for standing publicly with the pro-life community.
Blanca and I are heading back to the site to pray, and we need your help covering the prayer hours. Please sign up for a shift, invite someone from your parish to join you, and ask your pastor if you can table after Mass or service to gather petition signatures and help others take action.
The foundation may be laid, but this fight is far from over.
If you can give just one hour, join us. One hour of prayer can change hearts, open doors, and accomplish more than we can see.
And remember, every delay matters. Every week buys time. Every month brings us closer to the end of the governor's term, when, as Senator Gallegos shared, all three Republican candidates for governor have pledged to redirect this $10 million toward a real, life-affirming women's health center for southern New Mexico.
That future is within reach. But it depends on what we do today.
"Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
Standing with you for life,

Jessica Sifuentes
President & CEO
Southwest Coalition
P.S. — If you have a personal connection to anyone involved with these companies, never underestimate the power of a respectful conversation. One phone call from a friend, fellow parishioner, church member, neighbor, or trusted acquaintance can accomplish more than hundreds of letters.
