This is bigger than one building in Las Cruces.
We have spent weeks watching the UNM facility rise in our own backyard. Now, Elisa Martinez with New Mexico Alliance for Life is reporting that another reproductive health facility that could provide abortion services is being considered in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
When I read that, one thought immediately came to mind:
We cannot become comfortable with what we are seeing.
It is easy to look at a construction site long enough that eventually it becomes part of the scenery.
We drive past it. We see another wall. Another week passes. And slowly, something that once shocked us begins to feel normal.
I don't want that to happen to us.
Not while there is still time to pray.
Not while there are still people in our community who don't even know what is being built.
And certainly not while we are hearing about the possibility of this expanding into another New Mexico community.
This is why I am asking our Prayer Warriors to respond now.
The UNM build site needs us.
Not next month.
Not when the building opens.
Now, while it is still being built.
Prayer Warriors traveled from Santa Fe, NM to pray in front of the UNM Build Site.
If you have been meaning to come pray but haven't made it out yet, this is your invitation.
If you prayed years ago during a campaign but haven't been back, come back.
If you've already been faithfully covering a shift, invite someone new to stand beside you.
We need more people seeing this site with their own eyes. We need more churches talking about it. We need more families praying. And we need more people willing to stand in the gap for women and children before these doors ever open. If you can pray, please do. If you can volunteer to talk about 40 Days for Life at your own church, please let us know.
Scripture tells us:
“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap…” — Ezekiel 22:30
Friend, there is a gap to stand in right now.
What happens next in New Mexico is bigger than any one of us, but prayer has never required us to know the outcome before we are faithful.
So please don't wait until the final days of this campaign.
Come pray.
And bring someone with you who has never been there before.
We need you now.
Gratefully in Christ,

Devotional for Day 8
Intention: For pregnant women experiencing abandonment by the child’s father.
Scripture: “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted.” Psalm 34:19
Reflection: Being abandoned during pregnancy can wound deeply. A woman may suddenly feel she must carry both emotional grief and practical responsibility alone. God draws especially near to the brokenhearted. May these mothers discover that abandonment by one person does not mean abandonment by everyone.
Prayer: Jesus, comfort mothers who have been left alone during pregnancy. Heal the wounds of rejection and place faithful friends, family members, and helpers around them. Amen.
Challenge: Challenge. Pray Psalm 51 for Dr. Theard.
