A few Sundays ago, Father Alejandro from Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral in Las Cruces preached on Jesus’ words that a lamp is not meant to be hidden. We are called to be light in the darkness.

He applied this directly to the pro-life movement. As Christians, we cannot hide our faith or silence our convictions because culture tells us to. We are called to stand visibly for truth.

When women drive into abortion facilities, many carry heavy burdens of fear and uncertainty. That darkness can feel overwhelming. When we stand outside peacefully praying, rosary in hand, we are not there to condemn. We are there to shine. We are there as a visible sign that hope still exists.

Praying at home is powerful. But praying on the sidewalk, in the very place where lives hang in the balance, is a public witness. It is a light placed on a stand.

If more pulpits boldly reminded the faithful of this call, we would see more believers stepping forward without fear. Let us respond to that call ourselves.

And as we continue to shine that light, remember daily to pray for Dr. Theard’s conversion. No darkness is too deep for Christ.

Gratefully in Christ,

Devotional for Day 6

Intention: That we may courageously shine Christ’s light in places of darkness.

Scripture: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” – Matthew 5:14

Reflection: Light does not argue with darkness. It simply shines. When we show up in faith and love, God uses our presence to pierce despair and awaken hearts.

Prayer: Lord, make us bold and faithful witnesses. Let our prayers be light for mothers in crisis and for those who have lost their way.

Challenge: Sign up for an EXTRA hour at a vigil site this week. Let your presence be a visible reminder that hope is stronger than fear. Pray Psalm 51 for Dr. Theard.

40 Days of Gift Giving

Each day, one Registered Prayer Volunteer from every vigil site will be selected to receive a small Southwest Coalition merchandise item that we already have on hand. It is a simple and joyful way for us to thank you for showing up and standing faithfully in prayer.

Today’s Winners Are…
