While working in the front office at Guiding Star, I received a call from a woman we had helped before. I will call her Isabella.

The first time we met her was on the sidewalk during our last 40 Days for Life Fall campaign. She was walking into the abortion facility where our Her Care Connection team was there to offer help, and our prayer volunteers were praying. The interns told her about Abortion Pill Reversal and all the services Guiding Star offers. She said she had already taken the abortion pills, but would think about the information she was given.

Sadly, by the time she called to get the medication to reverse the abortion, it was too late. The baby had passed away.

The reason she had called this time was that she was pregnant again. She said she remembered that, in the midst of uncertainty last time, she felt God used Her Care Connection to lead her toward Guiding Star.

She asked if she could come in for an ultrasound.

She expressed gratitude for how much it meant to be spoken to with honesty and compassion. And though her situation did not unfold as she had hoped the first time, she was hopeful for a second chance.

The experience and training the interns have, combined with the prayers of our Prayer Volunteers, are a powerful weapon against the enemy's deceitful tactics.

This is why our dual defense on the sidewalk matters so much.

Your prayers are not just a beautiful addition to the mission; they are the mission. They are essential. As you stand faithfully in intercession, you are blessing the babies, the mothers, and even the doctors. But you are also strengthening the very words and presence of our Sidewalk Interns.

The reinforcement is divine, and the interns know it.

We see it. We see more conversations happening. We see more mothers pause. We see more hearts soften, and more minds change. There is something different when prayer covers the ground while what feels like impossible conversations unfold in real time.

While an intern speaks with clarity and compassion, heaven moves. While truth is being offered gently, grace is being poured out. What looks like a simple conversation on the sidewalk is actually a spiritual battle surrounded by prayer.

You make that possible.

Gratefully in Christ,

Devotional for Day 5

Intention: For unity on the sidewalk. For strengthened interns, softened hearts, and grace to move in real time through prayer.

Scripture: “Two are better than one… For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.”
~Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10

Reflection: On the sidewalk, one speaks, and one prays. This is our dual defense. God moves through united hearts.

Prayer: Lord, strengthen every intern speaking today. Let our prayers reinforce their words and fill the sidewalk with Your grace. Soften hearts and protect every life. Amen.

Challenge: As you pray today, intentionally lift up the intern who is speaking at that moment. Ask the Lord to let them feel spiritually reinforced and never alone. Pray Psalm 51 for Dr. Theard.
