Our Hope is in You, Lord.

Yesterday, I read an article that stayed with me all day. I struggled with whether to share this heartbreaking news. But I think it’s important that we stay informed.

Even after Roe v. Wade was overturned, the number of abortions in our nation remains devastatingly high. In 2025, there were an estimated 1,126,000 abortions in the United States, a number that has remained largely steady in recent years (Guttmacher Institute, 2026 report).

To understand the magnitude of this…

That’s like wiping out every man, woman, and child in El Paso and Las Cruces, along with Deming, Hatch, Truth or Consequences, Socorro, and Hobbs… and still another 240,000 lives… every single year.

This is not what we hoped to see.

One of the primary reasons is that abortion did not disappear. It adapted. Today, chemical abortions are widely accessible through telehealth, online providers, and by mail. In fact, chemical abortions now account for the majority of abortions in the U.S., and a growing share are happening outside of clinics altogether (Guttmacher Institute; KFF).

What was once confined to a building is now delivered in a package. Hidden. Isolated. And presented as safe.

Fr. Chad Ripperger, an exorcist, has warned that abortion is among the gravest evils of our time because of the number of innocent lives lost, and the way it hardens hearts against God.

When we consider over 1.1 million lives lost in a single year, we begin to see the magnitude of this spiritual battle. This is not only a moral crisis. It is a diabolical attack against God and His children.

And when we widen the lens, the reality becomes even more sobering.

Since 1973, it is estimated that over 63 million abortions have taken place in the United States.

That is the equivalent of wiping out every man, woman, and child in California and Texas combined. It represents generations that never had the chance to live, to love, or to be known. Children who never grew up, families that were never formed, lives that never touched ours. Because abortion does not just affect individuals, it affects us all.

We can imagine what that would look like. Now lets hear what it sounds like.

It’s not the actual sound, nor is it graphic.

It is almost impossible to comprehend.
And yet it is real.

However, there is hope. Easter reminds us that darkness is never the end of the story.

Tomorrow, we will look at the hope that is already rising… and the role we are called to play in it.

We Hope To See You at the Rally!

Gratefully in Christ,

Devotional for Day 38

Intention: For repentance and a renewed recognition of the dignity of every human life.

Scripture:
“But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”
Hebrews 5:14

Reflection:
The reality before us is heavy. Even after Roe, abortion remains widespread and more hidden than ever. This reveals how easily a culture can lose its ability to distinguish good from evil. However, we also know it can be changed from evil to good.

Prayer:
Lord, form our hearts in truth.
Give us clarity to see good and evil rightly.
Awaken our nation and lead us back to You.

Challenge:
Pray for our lawmakers. That God will grant them sorrow for sin. Pray Psalm 51 for Dr. Theard.
