Just a Few Feet Away, a Miracle Is Unfolding
As I sit at my desk writing this email, something beautiful is happening just a few feet away.
I can hear a mother in labor at our Guiding Star Southwest Birth & Wellness Center.
Her voice rises and falls as she works through each contraction. She's not screaming. There is strength in her voice, determination, and the incredible effort of bringing a child into the world.
And surrounding her are the gentle voices of her birth team, offering reassurance, encouragement, and the loving support she needs through each moment.
I wish you could hear what I'm hearing.
Because in just a little while, those sounds of a mother laboring will be joined by one of the most beautiful sounds in the world: the first cry of her newborn baby.
What an extraordinary gift it is to sit here, only a few feet away, knowing that a new life is about to enter this world!
It reminds me why having a birth center is so important to our mission.
At Guiding Star Southwest, we don't simply encourage mothers to choose life. We want to walk alongside them as they bring that life into the world.
We want mothers to feel safe, respected, supported, and surrounded by people who recognize the dignity of both mother and child.
And what a blessing that our community has a place where childbirth can be welcomed with such tenderness, where a mother is encouraged through every difficult moment, and where the arrival of her baby is celebrated as the miracle it truly is.
Scripture tells us:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” — Jeremiah 1:5
As we continue these 40 Days for Life, I pray we never lose sight of what we are working toward.
Not simply the end of abortion, but a world where every mother is loved, every baby is welcomed, and no woman has to face motherhood alone.
And today, from my desk, I have the extraordinary privilege of hearing a little piece of that world coming to life.

Devotional for Day 32
Intention: For mothers preparing to give birth, especially those who are frightened or lack loving support.
Scripture: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” — Jeremiah 1:5
Reflection: The sounds of a mother laboring, the gentle encouragement surrounding her, and the first cry of her newborn remind us of God's beautiful gift of life. Every birth is a miracle, and every mother deserves to feel loved, safe, and supported. Our calling is not simply to defend life, but to embrace and care for both mother and child.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, bless every expectant mother with strength, peace, and loving support. Help us recognize the miracle of every new life and give us generous hearts to care for both mother and baby. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
TODAY'S CHALLENGE: Pray for a mother preparing to give birth, especially one facing motherhood alone. Ask God to surround her with love, encouragement, and compassionate care.
