Day 3: A Prayer for Conversion

{{first_name|Friend}},

Let us enter with a renewed commitment to prayer and fasting. This movement was never built on strategy alone. It was built on surrendered hearts.

When we fast, we make room for God to move. When we pray, heaven responds. And during these forty days, we are not only praying for babies to be spared from abortion. We are praying for their mothers, many of whom are overwhelmed by fear, isolation, and confusion. We are praying that the darkness surrounding them will be pierced by hope.

We are also praying boldly for the conversion of those who perform abortions. In a recent interview, Dr. Franz Theard shared that his mother was Catholic and never proud of his work. That detail matters. It reminds us that grace still reaches every heart. For these forty days, I am asking every prayer volunteer to fast in whatever way they can and to pray daily for Dr. Theard’s conversion. Let us ask the Lord to soften his heart, to lead him to repentance, and to give him the courage one day to proclaim publicly that God is merciful.

Abortionist Dr. Franz Theard

Please join us in praying Psalm 51:3–19 for him throughout this campaign. We have adapted this Psalm intentionally as a prayer for his repentance and conversion. You can find the adapted prayer by clicking below. We will be praying it every day for the remainder of the 40 Days for Life campaign, asking the Lord to create in him a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within him.

You can find the adapted prayer here:

No one is beyond redemption.

Let us boldly ask for a miracle.

Devotional for Day 3

Intention: For a powerful outpouring of prayer and fasting, and for the conversion of Dr. Franz Theard.

Scripture: “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke?” – Isaiah 58:6

Reflection: Purpose of Fasting: God rejects fasting that is merely a ritual or accompanied by injustice, demanding instead that it lead to the freeing of the oppressed.

Prayer: Lord, receive our prayers and sacrifices during these forty days. Bring freedom to mothers in crisis and mercy to those who perform abortions. Create in them clean hearts, O God, and renew right spirits within them.

Challenge: Choose one form of fasting you can sustain during these forty days and commit to praying Psalm 51 daily for Dr. Theard’s conversion.
