Community leaders are stepping forward.
I want to share a quick update and a glimpse of what is beginning to unfold.
Yesterday I sat down with Senator David Gallegos and Las Cruces Mayor Eric Enriquez to share updates and continue coordinating our efforts to stop this center.
I also want to express my gratitude to Mayor Enriquez for agreeing to speak at the rally. It is incredibly meaningful for our community to see the Mayor of Las Cruces publicly supporting this movement, and we are grateful for his willingness to stand with the people of our city.
Stopping something of this scale is not simple, and it will not happen overnight. There are legal, legislative, and community steps that must be taken carefully and strategically. But what encouraged me most from that meeting was this: we are continuing to bring leaders and citizens together to face this challenge as one community.
Even when challenges feel large, we move forward remembering something important. God is always in control. Scripture reminds us that faith, hope, and love remain. Love is the greatest, but hope stands among the virtues that sustain us. We continue this work grounded in that hope.
Now the next step is even bigger.
For the March 14 rally in Las Cruces, we are working to invite city and state representatives from across New Mexico to attend. Our hope is that leaders from around the state will come, listen, and hear directly from the people of this community. This gathering will also be an opportunity to begin discussing the next steps as we pursue every possible avenue to stop this center.
Our hope is to fill the streets of Las Cruces with people from every background. Different cities. Different churches. Different communities. Every person who comes strengthens the message that the people of New Mexico are paying attention and are ready to stand for life.
What unites us is something simple and powerful.
Life.
But this will only happen if each of us takes responsibility to invite others. Please be active in spreading the word. Call your church leaders. Share the information with your pastor. Reach out to friends, family, and neighbors. Encourage your church community and local leaders to come and stand together for life.
